Support the green energy transition

To reach the EU’s goal of becoming climate neutral by 2050, and increase the energy security of European citizens the new mandate must advance the energy transition and:

• Adopt binding phase-out dates for all fossil fuel types.

• End the use of energy from coal in the EU by 2030.

• Stop investment in new fossil fuel supply projects as per the IEA’s net-zero roadmap.

• Advance the mandate for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.

• Scale and speed up wind and solar energy deployment accelerating and supporting manufacturing and necessary infrastructure.

• Put an end to fossil fuel subsidies in a socially just manner.

• Facilitate a just and fair transition with financial support, technology and expertise sharing provided to lower-income economies.
